Playstation 4, arrives 2012?!

It seems that the Playstation 4 may be arriving in 2012!

It seems that the Playstation 3's life may soon be over... With all of the problems that Sony is having, I wouldn't be surprised if this rumor is true. GameSpot says that it was found out through some component makers in Taiwan that said they're beginning work on the next console!

We'll just have to wait and see if it's true or not, but I hope some stuff about it is leaked before the actual release so I can get some specs or some details or something! Also, GameSpot says it's motion control-based, so it may be like a better graphics version of Playstation Move, but combined into the system.

360 update causes discs to not work - PS3s update causes overheating

Microsoft's Xbox 360 recently had some troubles that caused retail discs to not work in some Xbox 360s and Sony's recent update seems to be causing overheating for people's consoles. Sony is, of course, having the worst time of all (because they're having way more troubles, like with their network, the natural disasters, etc...), but it's surprising to see 360 have an error like this at the same time.

I guess just don't update your systems for a while, until they've patched out these strange errors; Microsoft says to contact them if your 360 doesn't read discs after the update.

Project Cafe (Wii 2), leaked video of console?

It seems that someone may have leaked a video of the successor to the Wii, which is currently codenamed Project Cafe; most people seem to think it'll end up being called Nintendo Stream, because it streams four 1080p videos at the same time to four different controllers, which all have touch screens!

The hardware in this new console is also far better than that of the 360 and PS3 (which is understandable, because it's far newer). Nintendo and other game developers were all having trouble innovating anything else with the console, so they had to make a new one.

Nintendo has been behind with the Wii for years now, and with the release of Playstation Move and mostly the release of Microsoft's Kinect, the Wii had nothing special about it, anymore; the Wii is just a withered old husk, ready to become obsolete (if it hasn't already...).

The new console will be completely backwards compatible with older games from GameCube and the Wii, but the compatibility with older games from other systems is unknown; however, they have said it will have a higher emphasis on backwards compatibility (I hope it comes with a Super Nintendo game player! :D)

Project Cafe is said to also be the most developer friendly system; this means that they will make it very easy to develop games for their console. This is way different than the Wii, which many people had trouble programming for, because of the Wiimote's motion controls.

The SDK (Software Development Kit) for this console sounds awesome! We may finally get to see mainstream games being released on all three consoles, with great graphics! Maybe even a FFXIII rerelease, but with 1080p! (instead of 720p like on PS3 and 360...)

Mass Effect: Genesis, DLC, Now available on 360 and PC

Mass Effect was released a few years ago for the Xbox 360 and PC. Mass Effect 2 was released, later, for only the 360 and the PC, as well; however, in early 2011, EA decided to release a PS3 version, containing any of the DLC (downloadable content) from the game that was already released for the other systems.

Mass Effect 2 may have been released on the PS3, but Mass Effect was not; Bioware has made their games to where they rely on the choices that you've made in the games before. Mass Effect choices carry over to Mass Effect 2. The reason Mass Effect is not on the PS3 is because Microsoft owns the publishing rights for the original game, while EA owns the publishing rights to any sequels of it.

Because of Mass Effect 2 being released on the PS3 without Mass Effect, they decided to go ahead and include something that allows the player to make choices without it just being a heap of questions thrown at the player; they made a comic called Mass Effect: Genesis.

Mass Effect: Genesis was only available on the PS3 version for five months, but it is now finally released on the 360 and PC for 320 Microsoft Points (360) or 320 Bioware Points (PC). If you don't feel like playing through Mass Effect again or you don't want to play it at all, then this four dollar DLC is a great choice; however, I recommend playing the first game, it's very impressive and the comic simply skips way too much of the original game's important and memorable parts.

Project Cafe, Wii successor, Designs

IGN asked for people to make their own ideas of what the Wii 2 (Wii's successor, codenamed: Project Café) will look like. There are rumors and speculation circulating everywhere and Nintendo has announced that the console will be revealed at E3.

There were quite a few cool designs that IGN revealed from its users, even if one of them does kind of look like a VCR...

There are far more designs at IGN, but this one to the left is my favorite. It may look like a VCR, like I said, but it still looks awesome! IT has four controller ports, which use USB, and the system kind of reminds me of the Nintendo and Super Nintendo consoles...

Anyway, I really hope it doesn't have the name that this person gave it... Nintendo BEEM; that would be such a strange name... Most people believe it's going to be called the Nintendo Stream, so far - this is because of the cool way it streams 1080p video to each of the four controllers, simultaneously. How is this useful, you ask? Well, if you are playing a four-player split-screen game, you don't want the others to cheat by looking at your screen; so, you can simply look at your controller without anyone being able to spy on you on the same screen as theirs! And, you get your own screen instead of having to share it...

Plus, 1080p is a really high resolution, meaning this console is very powerful. The 360 and PS3 are both capable of 720p, 1080i and 1080p - however, most games on these consoles usually only make the effort of using 720p, even though it's a far smaller resolution. If this console can stream four 1080p videos at the same time, it has to be very, very powerful...

Playstation Network (PSN) / Airplane (movie), Parody

Airplane was a movie a while back (1980) that starred a bunch of hilarious people, mostly Leslie Nelson (who has passed away). This old 80's movie was one of the most hilarious things that I've ever laid eyes on or heard in my life.

Now, PSN has gone down and a bunch of jokes are being made to make fun of it... Like this one....

Sony, founder dies

Sony's founder, Norio Ohga, has died. He was 81 years of age; born in 1930 and died April 23, 2011. He helped in the development of the CD (compact disc) and the DVD (Digital Versatile Disc OR Digital Video Disc). These both replaced their predecessors as the main media of music and video, respectively.

Sony, Announces two Android tablet computers

Apple already has their insanely popular Ipads and Ipad 2's on the market, so it's not very surprising that other companies want in on the tablet market. Sony has announced two new Android tablet computers codenamed S1 and S2.

S1 will have WiFi, 3G and 4G (for those in a 4G area). Also, it will have a front and a back camera, allowing you to take photos of yourself or of things right in front of you, while still looking at the screen; the Ipad 2 also has this, but it's expensive - maybe this'll beat the price? The screen on S1 is 9.4 inches. It can also be used as a remote for some of the other Sony devices out there.

S2 has a 5.5 inch screen, a (1024x480) resolution and can stream video and play games. The controls on S2 are on the back for gaming; these are touch sensitive, so they aren't really buttons - kind of like the PS3 touch control to turn it on and off.

Each of these devices can connect to the Playstation Network and download things like Playstation Classics (PSone games) and other games. These tablets currently have no price announced, but I am expecting it won't be too long before the price becomes known. These are supposed to be  released in Fall of this year, 2011.

Sony and Microsoft, 360 and PS3 have three years left, Nintendo announcing new console

Microsoft and Sony both seem to have announced that they will keep up with the 360 and PS3 until 2014, which is another three years. Nintendo is going to be announcing their console in a few weeks; here is a design I found of it that might or might not be real.

If this is the real design, then this means that we won't have to look at a four way split screen on a television; we can just look at our own controller and see ourselves. We can make sure the other players aren't peeking at our screens and make it more fair for everyone! This will make this console have a different advantage than anyone else, and if it's patented, then that means they'll stay ahead for a long time - maybe. It just  depends on whether people end up liking this.

Project Cafe, Nintendo's new console coming soon

Project Cafe, sometimes called Wii 2, is Nintendo's codename for their new console that will be revealed soon. It is likely that they'll reveal it at E3 or sometime in late May. Nintendo's new controller for the console seems to be something different, like they always try to do. This time it is a controller that has an HD screen on it.

The picture above is a concept of the controller from IGN. It looks very interesting. I hope it looks a little better than this, but it still looks awesome. This isn't the real concept from Nintendo, since the console isn't announced, yet; however, this is an imaginative version from IGN dissecting the rumors about the new console's controller.

Sony has sold 50,000,000 PS3 - 8,000,000 Move

Sony has announced that they've sold 50,000,000 Playstation 3s and 8,000,000 Playstation Moves. Microsoft had already reached the same goal with the Xbox 360 months ago and with the Kinect, as well. The Playstation Network has 75,000,000 accounts registered!

Microsofts Xbox 360 had made the goal of 50,000,000 units sold all the way back in January; this is probably because of the humongous interest in the Microsoft Kinect, which has been used for way more than just another controller for the 360. The Kinect is a sensor that doesn't require you to hold any controller at all.
