1. Can you identify these monster eyes?

2. Good interview with Jensen Karp about running Gallery 1988. I hope this isn't a joke:
I was actually in a rap group signed to Interscope called Hot Karl. I had songs with Kanye West, Will.i.Am, Redman, Fabolous, Mya, etc. It was a crazy opportunity that came to me while I was attending USC, but it also was never really something I aspired to do. It was just something I couldn’t say no to. So as I say a real way out of it, I decided to take the money I made from rapping and put it into something I could be proud of as a career, and depend on, so the gallery was born with my partner Katie. I was always more interested in the marketing and visual approach to selling music, so it seemed that more curator-based stuff was where I was hoping to go the whole time.
3. Jeff Bercovici commenting on Steve Jobs:
there's something disturbing about people treating Jobs as though he was some kind of saint. The problem with doing so is the way it elevates our own consumerism to something noble and important when really it's the opposite.
4. A look at Sammy Wanjiru, a tremendous marathon runner who died under mysterious circumstances (and Kenyan runners in general):
early on, there were glimpses of fire. In the 1968 Olympics, Kipchoge Keino flew to first place in the 1,500, winning by 20 meters. It's the largest margin of victory in the history of the event and earned Kenya its first gold medal in any competition. This is true despite Keino's unusual morning on race day — when his bus got knotted in Mexico City traffic, he ran the final two miles to the stadium, to the starting line, and to the history books.

1. Interesting article on the history of China's Bayi Rockets, the military-sponsored basketball team that got into the big fight with Georgetown. Once dominant, the team couldn't adapt to changing rules:
From its outset, the CBA had allowed teams to import two foreign players, including retreads from the NBA, as a way to expose Chinese players to better competition. The exception was Bayi, which remained all-Chinese. It would have been embarrassing for the army team to import foreign mercenaries. Yet as better foreigners began arriving, Bayi began to struggle, which was more embarrassing. The league tried to give it special protection: Any team playing Bayi had to limit the playing time for foreign stars.
2. I enjoyed Brian Lam's ridiculous article about Steve Jobs. Its subtitle is "Regrets of An Asshole", but he: (1) timed the publishing of the article to benefit from Jobs's death; (2) goes to great pains to brag that Steve Jobs thought he was really talented; and (3) blames much of the iPhone 4 fiasco on coworkers, especially the people still at Gawker media ("I probably should have quit right after the first story was published for several different reasons. I didn't know how to say that without throwing my team under the bus, so I didn't.").

3. And speaking of articles on Steve Jobs, here's Robin Hanson discussing Jobs and signaling.

1. Robert Cringely:
it’s suddenly clear why Apple didn’t introduce the iPhone 5 this week. It would have been lost in the news of Jobs’s death, killing the marketing value he would have loved. I’m sure the phone will appear in a week or two with that appearance in part to encourage the recovery of Apple shares from what is sure to be a short-term decline.
(I don't think he's joking.)

Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO

The awesome and very well known, Steve Jobs has resigned as CEO of Apple. He has brought the company to the highest of heights - one of the most influential and innovative companies of all time; it also is richer than the US government...

Steve Jobs will be missed as the CEO, but he'll stay as the chairman of the board. He'll still help out as much as he can during his time with the company, but I think his health is finally starting to take a real toll on him. He has decided that it was affecting his work. It's kind of sad, to me; even though I wasn't such a big fan as some, it's still shocking and very surprising and I respected him a lot.

Assassins Creed: Revelations, First Screenshot

Assassins Creed: Revelations is the next in the AC series and the very first screenshot has been revealed! According to people who analyzed the screenshot, this game will take place in Istanbul (which makes sense when looking at the architecture, if you have any idea about architecture...); this is a big change from Italy - which was getting kind of dull and boring...

Sony, Announces two Android tablet computers

Apple already has their insanely popular Ipads and Ipad 2's on the market, so it's not very surprising that other companies want in on the tablet market. Sony has announced two new Android tablet computers codenamed S1 and S2.

S1 will have WiFi, 3G and 4G (for those in a 4G area). Also, it will have a front and a back camera, allowing you to take photos of yourself or of things right in front of you, while still looking at the screen; the Ipad 2 also has this, but it's expensive - maybe this'll beat the price? The screen on S1 is 9.4 inches. It can also be used as a remote for some of the other Sony devices out there.

S2 has a 5.5 inch screen, a (1024x480) resolution and can stream video and play games. The controls on S2 are on the back for gaming; these are touch sensitive, so they aren't really buttons - kind of like the PS3 touch control to turn it on and off.

Each of these devices can connect to the Playstation Network and download things like Playstation Classics (PSone games) and other games. These tablets currently have no price announced, but I am expecting it won't be too long before the price becomes known. These are supposed to be  released in Fall of this year, 2011.

Apple, 187,000,000 iOS devices sold

Apple revealed during a lawsuit that they have sold 187,000,000 iOS devices. These devices include the iPhone,  iPad and iPod Touches. There are numbers on each one of them below. I am surprised to see how many iPads that they have sold - mostly because of the high price on them. The iPhones I'm not so surprised about, because they were considered the ultimate phone for a while, before Android phones came along...

The numbers that were revealed are only the amount sold through March, 2011; so by now, they could technically be much higher... and also include the iPad 2.

iPhone: 108,000,000
iPod: 60,000,000
iPad: 19,000,000

Why aren't there more video games for a phone, the iPhone, that has sold this much? I haven't seen anything big be released on them except for Angry Birds, but it's on Android and everything else, too. So I really do wonder why I haven't heard of any big releases or very popular games released for it. Maybe it's just because the iPhone isn't made specifically for gaming like the 360 or PS3, but I've seen amazing games on PC and Mac which are exclusive to desktop computers - so why not the iPhone? All well, I don't have one, so I don't care.

Windows 8 - Leaked and Features - App Store and Ribbon!

Windows 8 is looking to be more like Microsoft Office, with features like the Ribbon that now are part of windows explorer itself.

It is said to be an Operating system that can be used on phones, tablets and on desktops! This means good and bad things: the interface will be more user friendly, but probably at the loss much of the customization that windows is known to easily allow. I really hope this isn't the case, but if it's made for phones and tablets then they probably don't want people messing with the OS as much as usual.

We'll see how it goes, though.

Apple blocks an App called 'Unpleasant Horse' because it's too mature...

Apple blocked an app that was considered too mature for its audiences, just because magical unicorns were being chopped into little pieces in meat grinders - that's the truth of life, though - animals are killed in slaughter houses all the time; so isn't this just an educational game? jk...
