World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, Announced at Blizzcon!

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria has been officially announced, after it was initially found out through the registered trademark of the name (and swiftly 'denied' being the the expansion name at all). However, we all knew that it would be the expansion, because of way it was registers (as game software, bundled with a manual...).

Here is an amazing preview that they've released of the game - it tells of the new features and recaps what has happened in the stories of the previous expansions. This is not the cinematic trailer that they usually release as well, for the expansions:

Minecraft Adventure Update 1.8, Released!

Minecraft's Adventure Update has been released, after a long time of development (that was definitely worth it!). The combat looks a lot better, you can run, you have a food bar (showing when you need more food) and there's a new monster. There are also new NPC towns! And some other new places as well. Quite a few new things other than this - go ahead and see this to find out more:

Game sales to reach $81,000,000,000 in 2016!

According to GameSpot, an analyst has done his magic and seen that the future of video game sales is huge. There have already been $66 billion dollars in sales of video games - now, that number is going to climb very quickly to $81 billion!

There's no doubt that games in the Call of Duty series made a huge piece of that money; alongside World of Warcraft and its expansions. Activision-Blizzard got the most out of single games, it seems... Black Ops sold more copies than any other game in history, with around 25-30 million copies sold!

Nonetheless, This is a great milestone in gaming history. Passing eighty-billion dollars in sales of video games just shows how big the industry has gotten and how big it's going to get.

World of Warcraft, 4th Expansion, MISTS OF PANDARIA!?

It seems that World of Warcraft's 4th expansion may have been revealed through trademarks that Blizzard has filed for; Mists of Pandaria is the name that they have chosen. For a long time, the Pandarens have been a mysterious and strange race with a hidden continent somewhere on Azeroth; however, the continent has never been revealed to players. Maybe it's finally time for us to see their hidden land and play as the Pandarens?!

Diablo 3, Followers system Revealed - Trailer

Here is the new system just revealed by Blizzard - Followers. You may have a powerful character, but we could all still use a powerful person to come along with us; maybe you don't want to play with friends on multiplayer, so you could just use an AI companion!

Bungie, Not going to E3

Bungie, the game development studio behind the awesome Halo series (Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo: ODST, Halo:Reach), has announced that they will not be attending E3 2011. They just wanted to make sure that their fans didn't work themselves into a big hype, only to realize Bungie wasn't there.

Activision signed Bungie on for a ten-year development contract; this contract allows Bungie to have a lot of creative freedom and release the game when they want to release it. They plan to make an MMOFPS (Massively Multiplayer Online - First Person Shooter) - from what I've read, elsewhere.

Their game is going to be a humongous universe that there will always be things to do in - which basically defines an MMO. If someone runs out of things to do in an MMO, then they simply give up and go to another MMO. I can't really get into and stay into WoW - it's just too old and it needs a lot of improvements to the battle system... Fighting is really repetitive and boring.

As for Bungie's MMO - I really don't know how they'll make an FPS that is also an MMO and still have room to make it a huge world without much repetition. I am definitely going to try out the game when it's released, if it looks fun.

From Dust, Ubisoft game, Art Direction Trailer

Here is a really awesome looking game that I found while surfing around the internet; it's a game called From Dust. It's apparently about controlling Nature. Nature is basically the main character of the game, influencing everything that happens.

The art direction was made by looking at real locations in our world, real disasters, real floods, real volcanoes - the people of the world were influenced by real-life tribes, mostly from Africa. These tribes, in the game, also have influences put into them by the game developers - the people in the game wear masks from birth to death.

Anyway, this game looks beautiful and I really really want to play it! It looks like a very original game over what I've seen in the past few years. So, here is a YouTube video by the developers showing what they did and you get to see lots of beautiful places in their fictional world!

Fallout: New Vegas, Gets 3 more DLC packs soon

Fallout: New Vegas came out only a few months ago and it already has one DLC pack, Dead Money; the first DLC pack was received well. The game, Fallout: New Vegas, was bashed at first because of the terrible and hilarious bugs that were scattered throughout the game - like people's heads spinning around like they were possessed... this even included the very first NPC the player character wakes up to - making the player feel like it's supposed to happen, but at the same time it makes the game look stupid.

_______________________________________________________________________________

The three new DLC packs that are coming out are called...

  • Honest Hearts: The player is trapped at Utah's Zion National Park and must escape a roving tribal war party
  • Old World Blues: Some mad scientists are conducting experiments and doing many things to further mutate people in the wasteland; now, the player can fight them or help them
  • Lonesome Road: The player will be contacted by the Courier Six and they will ask the player to go into a place called the Divide; this is a place decimated by hurricanes and earthquakes

Marvel Universe, Free to Play

Marvel Universe, an upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online game, is going to be free to play. That means that there will be no monthly fee whatsoever; however, games like these suffer from the fact that they will need to continue to sell in game items and merchandise just to stay afloat.

So, is this a good idea? I think it is for the consumers, but will the game be good at all? We'll see...
