Win a Santa Claus paper toy

Chris Parks has a killer portfolio:

Chris designed this papercraft Santa as a promotional mailer for Running Dove Press:

You can't download it, but I do have one to give away. If you'd like an unassembled model, and live in the USA, comment on this post and include your email so I can get in touch. I'll pick a winner in a few days.

Grand Theft Auto V, Premiere Trailer, Takes place in San Andreas!

Grand Theft Auto V is coming and the first trailer for it has been released! It looks like it will have great graphics and a normal old Grand Theft Auto storyline - it also looks like it will have some fun freestyle gameplay that this series has always been famous for. It takes place in the classic location, San Andreas. Also, the guy at 0:58 seconds looks a bit like Niko from GTAIV... Maybe this is what happened to him after all of those years of crime?

The Carolina Panthers logo is supposed to be shaped like the borders of North and South Carolina

Wikipedia says, "The Panthers logo consists of the head of a snarling Black panther outlined in blue. It is shaped to resemble the combined borders of North and South Carolina."

However, it's a bit of a stretch....

Brakebills College t-shirts

These are terrific, t-shirts based on Lev Grossman's outstanding The Magicians (definitely my favorite book of the last year or so):

This first one, with the tattoo on the back is my favorite:

I'd love to see someone draw the villain from the book - - I always pictured him as looking like a twisted version of this.

Neverending Story-themed art show

A few of my favorites from the Neverending Story-themed art show by Magic is Science:

These first few are all by Sam Mitchell:

And here's a Luckdragon by Maria Teresa Garcia (it's like geek mistletoe):

I like the Magic is Science logo, too:

Here's photos from the opening, and a fashion shoot loosely based on the concept.

*Previously: Luckdragon t-shirt.

1. Here's a good design idea from Bill Simmons's article about a theoretical new basketball league: create logos for the teams the Seattle Nirvana and the Baltimore Wire.

2. Lots of clever costume ideas.

3. From a long interview with Peter Thiel:
The Warren Buffet rhetorical point is his $34 billion investment in late 2009 in a railway, the single biggest investment by Berkshire Hathaway outside of finance. It is an all-out bet against clean tech. It was described as a bet on America, but 40 percent of what gets transported on railroads is coal. You have to look at Buffett's railroad investments as an all-out bet that clean tech is going to fail.

It's a bet that we're going to send coal to ships in Long Beach and send it to China to power Chinese factories to send us stuff. That's not the clean-tech vision of the 21st century.

5. And speaking of sales, free Dunny if you spend $20 at Tenacious Toys.

Diablo III, Defeating the Skeleton King - Beta

Here is a cool video from GameSpot showing off the gameplay of Diablo III;  I love Blizzard and all of their games, and I'm sure that this one will be no exception.
