Game sales to reach $81,000,000,000 in 2016!

According to GameSpot, an analyst has done his magic and seen that the future of video game sales is huge. There have already been $66 billion dollars in sales of video games - now, that number is going to climb very quickly to $81 billion!

There's no doubt that games in the Call of Duty series made a huge piece of that money; alongside World of Warcraft and its expansions. Activision-Blizzard got the most out of single games, it seems... Black Ops sold more copies than any other game in history, with around 25-30 million copies sold!

Nonetheless, This is a great milestone in gaming history. Passing eighty-billion dollars in sales of video games just shows how big the industry has gotten and how big it's going to get.

Modern Warfare 3, Releasing on November 8th

Call of Duty has been an immensely popular series and one of its incarnations, Black Ops, has sold over 20 million copies - making it the best selling game ever. This game has made almost 1.5 billion dollars in revenue for Activision.

Modern Warfare 3 is going to be released on November 8th, 2011. This is a highly anticipated game, being the sequel to the game CoD: MW2 - which also sold quite a few copies and is still fairly popular with a lot of people around the world.

Microsoft, Buying Skype for $8.5 billion dollars!

Microsoft has announced that they are going to buy Skype for $8,500,000,000 (Eight-billion-five-hundred-million dollars). This is going to be huge for both of these companies; Skype is one of the biggest online video chat and telephone groups, allowing for free communication on some things.

Kinect and Skype are going to be compatible with each other, soon; Xbox 360 is going to be getting updates to be compatible with Skype. This will allow for a whole new age of communication on Xbox Live; some think it might even be free to make video calls if you have a Gold account on Xbox Live (Gold accounts are paid accounts - you pay a small monthly fee for access to tons of stuff).

Well, we'll see how it all goes... I hope it goes well. After seeing what has happened to Sony, I'm becoming more of a supporter of Xbox Live... I still like the PS3 system, more, but Microsoft's networks are far superior and aren't handled by complete morons like at Sony...

Capcom, reports 1,200,000,000 in annual sales!

Capcom, the publisher of hit games like Resident Even 5, has reported that they've made a new record amount for this year - 1.2 billion dollars! This is, of course, only the sales; this doesn't mean that they've made this much in profit.

Capcom is an awesome publisher and I hope for them the best! One of their newest games, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, is their fourth best selling game. I wonder if I should check out this new game? It doesn't look that bad... then again, I'd have to buy a portable...

Xbox Division, Kinect sells millions more

Microsoft's Xbox Division's sales have gone up by 60% and Kinect has sold millions more. Kinect is the awesome new way to control video games - it allows for the player to not have to use a controller at all and the player can just stand there and move about and talk to control the Xbox (or whatever platform someone decides to program Kinect to work for!).

Anyway, this has allowed this one division to make a net profit of almost $2,000,000,000 - that is, two-billion dollars.

Game Industry Devs, Averaged around $81,000 last year(2010)!

Game Developers aren't doing so badly at making money these days; last year (2010), game developers averaged $81,000 per person! This is awesome news, because a couple of years ago, people were saying the game industry was doing terribly (then again, so was everything else!)

Nonetheless, I am happy to hear this news; it makes me believe that I still have a chance to get a career in the video game development field!
